Hedy Lamarr once said: “Because you don’t live near a bakery doesn’t mean you have to go without cheesecake.” I can’t help but agree. In fact, even whilst counting calories, you can easily bribe me with a slice of baked cheesecake. Of course, there are various foolproof recipes out there these days, with brands like LANCEWOOD®’s products confirming that cheesecake will always be the answer, no matter the question. World Cheesecake Day is just another reason to celebrate this delicious dessert and you can even do that in the comfort of your own home with this easy cheesecake recipe:

8. To serve, remove from tin, peel off baking paper and slice. Best at room temperature.
Even fashion designer, Stefano Gabbana of Dolce & Gabanna is a fan of cheesecake. He’s been quoted, saying: “I like to eat pizza and spaghetti pomodoro, and I’m crazy for dessert. I like all of them: cassata, cheesecake, biscuits.” It really is true that life is much too short to say no to cheesecake – especially on World Cheesecake Day!

Favourite South African Restaurants to Celebrate World Cheesecake Day At

If you have no time to play around with this delicious cheesecake recipe or to bake your own homemade cheesecake, there are many restaurants, coffee shops and bakeries that know that there’s no problem a slice of cheesecake can’t solve. Here are some recently visited restaurants where I’ve sampled a slice of baked cheesecake – all places that I would highly recommend:
Geuwels Restaurant
Vegenoegd Löw’s Geuwels Restaurant is one of the dining destinations I would gladly visit on World Cheesecake Day. Chef Michelle Theron’s Baked Pumpkin Cheesecake is a must-try. Her innovative approach to cuisine makes for some truly remarkable experiences, even when it comes to something as simple as a slice of cheesecake. If you’re looking for the ultimate winelands dessert, this is it.

Amazon
During a dinner at the newly opened Amazon Restaurant at Menlyn Park Shopping Centre, their baked cheesecake was admittedly the highlight of my meal. It also gets served in rather generous portions, which means I got to take half of it home to enjoy again later.
tashas
The Joburg-based tashas at Nelson Mandela Square also serves a baked cheesecake – a creamy cheesecake with the most beautiful texture and divine flavour. Of course, the stunning interiors also add to the experience – the perfect excuse for an outing with the girls this World Cheesecake Day!
