The With by Weylandts Cape Town Design Week 2026

When a space invites you to slow down, settle in and reconnect with the people around you, you know it’s intentional. This month, Weylandts is taking its philosophy of good living and intentional design beyond furniture and interiors, launching an intimate, temporary cocktail bar, The With, at 107 Castle Street in Cape Town. The launch coincides with Design Week 2026 and having been designed by StudioLandt, it is much more than just a watering hole.

Technically, the temporary bar is an exploration of what happens when thoughtful design meets human connection, bringing together interiors, cocktails, conversation and culture in one carefully considered space. Open from 21 to 31 October 2026, with public bar seatings beginning on 22 October, this distinctive Cape Town pop-up offers a fresh perspective on the relationship between design and the way we live.

Weylandts Reimagines the Art of Good Living

For more than six decades, Weylandts has been instrumental in shaping various South African homes through furniture, interiors and considered design. Edgar Weylandt opened his first store in Windhoek in 1964 and since then, the brand has championed a philosophy rooted in the connection between people, nature, craftsmanship and the spaces we inhabit.

The With brings that philosophy into a surprising new setting. Rather than simply displaying furniture, Weylandts now invites guests to experience its design in a living, breathing environment – one where people gather, conversations unfold and where the atmosphere is shaped by the company we keep.

Ultimately, this is an intriguing extension of the brand’s design ethos, demonstrating that good living is not solely about the objects we choose for our homes, but also about the experiences and relationships those spaces encourage.

Why the Name The With?

Whilst the name of the bar is simple, its meaning runs much deeper than first impressions might suggest. A preposition such as with requires something to follow it: a person, a place, an experience or a moment shared. The same idea underpins the bar itself. Its design may establish the setting, but it is the people gathering in the space that will truly bring it to life.

This philosophy makes The With feel particularly relevant to today’s contemporary lifestyle and current hospitality trends, where memorable experiences, thoughtful interiors and meaningful human connection increasingly go hand in hand.

Naturally, the intimate format of the space is intentional, too. Seats are limited and bookings are structured around two-hour sittings, creating an opportunity for people to enjoy the space at a more considered pace.

Inside The With: Where furniture, cocktails and conversation meet

The pop-up bar offers a new way to experience the Weylandts aesthetic. Here, furniture is not simply something to admire in a showroom; it becomes part of the backdrop to an evening of drinks, conversation and shared experiences.

For Anna Weylandt, who now leads the brand, the project offers an opportunity to see its furniture in a different context.

“Our furniture has always lived in other people’s homes, which means we have rarely seen what happens around it,” she explains. “The With lets us be in the room for once.”

Her hope is that guests will sit alongside familiar faces or strike up conversations with people they are only just meeting, leaving with a renewed appreciation for the role that company plays in the art of good living.

The details extend to the drinks menu, with cocktails named after much-loved pieces from the Weylandts collection. Bar snacks accompany the drinks, while a partnership with Moët Hennessy brings another layer to the experience.

For those interested in Cape Town’s design scene, contemporary interiors and creative hospitality experiences, this temporary watering hole offers an opportunity to encounter a well-established South African design brand in an entirely different way.

Beyond its nightly bar seatings, the bar will also form part of a programme of design, conversation, music and social gatherings during Design Week.

The With: Cocktail Bar and Small Plates

The public bar experience unfolds across three daily seating times, with each two-hour booking offering guests the opportunity to enjoy cocktails, small plates and the carefully designed setting.

A Different Perspective on Luxury Living

What makes The With interesting is not simply that a furniture brand has opened a cocktail bar. It is the idea behind the project: that the spaces we design are ultimately there to be lived in and that the most memorable moments often have very little to do with the objects themselves.

For Weylandts, the pop-up bar creates an opportunity to move beyond the showroom and become part of the experience. For visitors, it offers a chance to discover the brand through design, hospitality, music and the pleasure of spending time together.

In a city as creatively dynamic as Cape Town, this ultimately serves as a reminder that design is not only about how a space looks. It is also about how it makes us feel, how it brings us together and the memories we create within it.
