When that scary thing you wish wouldn't happen to When that scary thing you wish wouldn't happen to you, happens, you need to decide: Fight or fade? Yup, COVID has come knocking. Well, actually, it didn't knock at all. It just barged in like a thief in the night. I've been in bed since Friday and today was the first day that I truly felt I had enough energy to get up. COVID makes you think, because you never know how hard it's going to hit you. The one minute you feel fine and the next minute it has you down on your knees. What I learned: - Rest. I have two toddlers and it was hard to expect my husband who had just recovered from COVID himself, to take the kids and let me rest. But I had to rest if I wanted to get better sooner. - Family is everything. My husband and kids carried me through these couple of days, and so did my parents and his parents through prayer. - It is pure grace that we got through it so easily. I know of too many people who are fighting for their lives, or who have lost their lives due to COVID. We can just thank God for keeping us safe. - On a lighter note, a birthday doesn't count as a birthday if you have COVID, so we'll have to redo @wikus.engelbrecht 's birthday once we're out of isolation. - We thought lockdown was bad. Self-isolation while being sick in bed with COVID with two toddlers who aren' t allowed to go to school is worse. - Don't be afraid to call your doctor. - Once the vaccination is available for us, I'm getting vaccinated. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE LOVE OF MY LIFE It's @wikus HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE LOVE OF MY LIFE It's @wikus.engelbrecht 's birthday today and although in isolation, it's a goooooood day. Wikus is feeling much better and so is my heart. πŸ™‚ May this year bring many adventures like this one in Namibia (which was pretty much the make or break for our relationship). We went on a road trip with both our families for almost three weeks and well, clearly we all made it! Being married to you, Wik, is one of the biggest blessings and the kids and I love you so, so much. May this day bring health and hope, as well as a heart filled with excitement for what lies ahead.
