Tasted a variety of wines this afternoon and I was Tasted a variety of wines this afternoon and I was once again reminded of the reason I've come to love wine so much. It's in the sentiment it holds. The terroir it comes from and how you can - if you are truly in the moment - taste the clay soil, the granite, the salty mist. It's how a wine can take you back hundreds of years, to where your heritage started. A large chunk of my heritage lies in Franschhoek soil and I suppose - in a way - I always find that hint of nostalgia as I swirl a glass of wine, curiously bring my nose closer and then expectantly take a sip. As a writer, I also love how every wine has a different story to tell. Apart from South Africa's wine farms that all have incredible stories to tell, even the wine in itself has a wonderful and intense journey from vineyard to bottle and it's always so inspiring to see how, even amidst the most difficult years - like with the old vineyards and non-irrigated vines - the fruit still produce wonderfully unique wines. Thank you, DGB for hosting us today and for including me in your masterclass. It was an inspiring afternoon among fellow wine lovers. #wine #winelover #southafrica

Unboxing and being creative with KWV Cathedral Cel Unboxing and being creative with KWV Cathedral Cellar. Wow!! Thank you for this incredible gift! Who can resist Duck Confit on a Thursday evening!? Especially when it is paired with Cathedral Cellar's Chardonnay! It was a slower Thursday in the Engelbrecht household today... We made a Hibiscus-inspired dinner, we drank Chardonnay, we spent time outside. If this hasn't cured the flu that's been going around, I don't know what will! Cathedral Cellar welcomes September and a new season filled with a transition in the vineyards, from budding to flowering. This season, their inspiration comes from the captivating Hibiscus and we got to try a pairing of the flower and their Chardonnay firsthand tonight. The Cathedral Cellar Chardonnay is a well-balanced, oaked Chardonnay which comes with fresh orange blossom aromas on the palate. It paired beautifully with tonight's Duck Confit (the recipe containing Hibiscus leaves and citrus). #gifted #unboxing #kwv #pairwithhibiscus

To be honest, the brand has never been my go-to when it comes to my classic style, so I was a bit nervous about how to style them. (Apart from being a classic gal, I am also someone who believes in ‘you use what you have’. And, I now had Crocs, so I had to find a way to use them.) I gave it a go and truly enjoyed playing around with Crocs’ platforms. Their Height Collection was launched at Momo Kuro in Rosebank, Joburg a while back and ultimately, the collection was designed to inspire unique style and flair. Of course, while maintaining Crocs’ renowned comfort. The collection features various platform designs with a range of colours. Taking on the challenge of styling my new Crocs platforms to fit my style, while also submitting to the brand’s aim of letting the me stand out and express my individuality, was such a fun fashion challenge.
