Luxury travel essentials to pack for your next adventure

Being a travel addict, I have come to have certain luxury travel essentials that I never leave home without. Preparing my suitcase before I travel, I usually begin by carefully packing my vanity case. Whether it’s a weekend escape or an extended voyage like our recent 3-week-long family holiday in the beautiful Garden Route, there are always some daily necessities to pack, but also the little luxuries that make every trip more enjoyable.

Elevating self-care with luxurious touches

Luxury items are particularly important to help sustain a positive outlook and consistent energy levels during long-distance travel. Even for a weekend break close to home, adding things that assure a sense of comfort can make a notable difference. Things like high-quality skincare products and the most sophisticated electric toothbrush I’ve ever owned certainly boosted my confidence and morale on the long road down to the Cape this past holiday.

Pomabruch luxury travel essentials

Luxury meets dental care innovation

My Pomabrush is one of the first and foremost luxury travel essentials I will always take with. It is the pinnacle of refinement in the realm of toothbrushes and it’s become my latest dental obsession. Opening the charge case feels like unwrapping a Christmas gift every morning and every night, with its elegance matched by its functionality. If there was ever a toothbrush to make a statement with, this is it.

Crafted with sonic vibration technology, delivering 15 000 gentle, yet effective vibrations per minute, Pomabrush offers the perfect tooth and gum pamper, on and off the road. Its dual brush heads cater to personalised dental care – one, a soothing embrace of medical-grade silicone, and the other, a charcoal-infused nylon-silicone blend, ensuring a deep, thorough cleanse.

The waterproof Pomabrush charges within its wireless case, an aesthetic marvel. But, the actual bonus lies in it only needing to charge three times per year! On our recent trip, I did not even take the charger with – I merely put the toothbrush in its case and the case’s charge was enough for three weeks and beyond. It’s a travel companion that exudes sophistication and functionality in equal measure.

SPF essentials

The South African sun is intense, especially during the high summer months. Even if you’re not travelling in southern Africa, facial sun protection is something never to be overlooked. A luxury facial sunscreen should have a high SPF and offer broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection. Ideally, it should be lightweight and include added skincare benefits like antioxidants or hyaluronic acid. This will help protect the skin from sun damage and provide hydration and anti-aging benefits. I recently came across a wonderful product from LifeLab. You’ll find it (amidst other great travel accessories) under this list.

Hair elixir: Nourishment amidst elements

Travelling can be a great experience throughout the year, but summer brings extra self-care considerations, especially for trips to the coast. There, your hair will be exposed to harsh elements like the sun, salt water and chlorine. A high-quality hair treatment or oil, particularly one formulated with natural ingredients such as argan or coconut oil, can nourish your hair and ultimately restore moisture. This is yet another one of the luxury travel essentials I can’t go without. It is especially beneficial for moms with limited time for hair care and who need a quick, effective solution to maintain healthy hair.

Hydration oasis: Nurturing body and soul

While fresh water is the be-all ingredient for all physical ails, a hydrating body lotion should be your second-best pick, perfect for adding to your toiletry repertoire. After a long day in the sun, a body lotion or body butter can do wonders for your skin. Look for products with ingredients like aloe vera, shea butter or almond oil, which are known for their soothing properties. For travelling without a set spa date, this might just be the closest you’ll get to a relaxing, spa-like experience.

Packing these luxury travel essentials, I know I’m not just packing products; I’m carrying comfort and style. It makes travelling less chaotic at times, reminding me that amidst the adventures, self-care and pampering items are must-have companions.
