Delicate yet expressive, it’s the kind of bottle you open without overthinking: under an old olive tree, at a long table with friends, or during an unplanned evening that effortlessly stretches into sunrise. Light, playful and quietly confident, this Pinotage Rosé captures the joy of living in the moment. It’s the perfect pink wine to toast love, laughter and everything in between this Valentine’s Day.
De Krans Cape Pink – A Rose Petal Pink Wine Fit for Valentine’s Celebrations
Located in Calitzdorp in the Klein Karoo, De Krans has definitely made the most of their unique terroir. Grapes that do really well in this area include Portuguese grape varieties and varietals like Hanepoot and Muscadel (both used in the production of the wine farm’s Moscato Range). They were also the ones to bring the first-ever Premium White Moscato Perlé to South Africa back in 2012.
But, for Valentine’s Day celebrations, it’s winemaker, Christoff de Wet’s De Krans Cape Pink that will do the trick. De Krans Cape Pink is as charming as it is refreshing. Its delicate, blush hue is achieved through just a few hours of skin contact before the juice is cool-fermented and gently fortified with unmatured brandy spirit. The result: a beautifully vibrant pink wine that feels playful yet poised.

In the glass, it shimmers in a rose petal pink, offering soft, elegant aromas of strawberries and cherries. On the palate, it’s smooth and approachable, with layers of ripe cherry and plum unfolding into a nostalgic hint of candy floss.
Perfect for warm summer days, this pink wine is best enjoyed well chilled or poured over crushed ice. It also lends itself beautifully to creative cocktails, making it an effortless choice for poolside sipping, celebratory gatherings, or as a welcoming drink to set the tone for relaxed, joyful moments.
Vondeling Rosé – For Warm Valntine’s Evenings
This pink wine captivates from the first glance with its delicate, salmon pink hue setting the tone for something beautifully indulgent. Bright and expressive aromas of Turkish delight, raspberry coulis and passion fruit unfold on the nose, lifted by a taut streak of fresh grapefruit.
The palate is generous yet refreshing. Expect a rounded texture, alive with vibrant red berry flavours, seductive floral nuances and a playful citrus twist that lingers long after the sip. It’s a wine that feels both elegant and joyful, effortlessly balancing charm with energy.
Perfect for warm Valentine’s evenings and leisurely alfresco dining, it pairs beautifully with spicy Thai prawns, grilled Portuguese sardines or a fresh tomato, feta and pomegranate salad.
Valentine’s Day isn’t about grand gestures – it’s about choosing what (and who) makes you happy. Sometimes, that’s simply a beautifully chilled glass of pink wine. Whether shared, gifted or enjoyed solo, these blush-toned bottles are your invitation to celebrate love in all its forms. Because romance should always taste this good.
