‘Boer Soek ’n Vrou’: A hunger for love (for most)

Philru and the ladies feeding a calf on Boer Soek n Vrou

Friday, Feb 17

Seeing the excitement and nerves on the Boer Soek ‘n Vrou farmers’ faces as their trios of admirers finally arrived on the respective farms, was priceless. But, for one of the farmers the women’s arrival came with more nerves and tension than he’d hoped for…

Right as rain for the next step on ‘Boer Soek ‘n Vrou’

The fifth episode of Boer Soek ’n Vrou kicked off on Philru’s family farm. He could not wait to see the women he chose to invite to visit him on the Free State farm, saying that he’s “right as rain” for the days ahead. The girls were full of giggles as they hopped out of the car to greet Philru and seemed to get a long quite well.

Looking for a wife, not a foreman

Louis B could not wait either. In fact, he was a ball of excitement when presenter, Marciel Hopkins arrived on the farm to check on him (and the beautifully prepared rooms) before the ladies arrived. “I want to fall in love,” he said with urgency. He’s so ready to for ‘the one,’ but also says that he doesn’t always trust his own judgement, which is why his final decision might take some time. While two of the women he invited to the farm grew up on farms, he says that that was not the deciding factor for inviting them. “As long as they want to understand. I am not looking for a foreman, I am looking for a wife,” he said confidently.

Picnic with Louis B on the lake Boer Soek n Vrou

He treated the three women to a picnic on the farm dam, complete with bubbly and all and he later confessed that while no one stands out at the moment, they are all really good people.

Putt-Putt for a pillow on ‘Boer Soek ‘n Vrou’

Hennie had his trio of ladies play putt-putt to see who would ‘win’ the best room for the visit on the farm. His mother helped him with their rooms (since he says he’s still got a lot to learn when it comes to what a woman might need). He was well prepared for the ladies’ visit and was all for taking the lead – from working with sheep to deciding what’s for dinner (including left-over salad from the afternoon, incorporated into the dinner menu in a rather sustainable fashion).

Stop it, I like it

Well, as we’ve seen from the start, Louis M is certainly a man with some proper pickup lines – the cheesier, the better. He pulled those out right from the start, probably in an attempt to make the ladies feel more at ease, which often resulted in the exact opposite. Still, they seemed to like his comments and it made for some good laughs. While he is always full of jokes, he’s got a deep side too and his grandmother and his love for her was once again very evident as he gave each of the women he invited a copy of a book filled with his gran’s recipes.

Awkward…

For dear old Francois, things got off to a rough start. All excited, he greeted and welcomed the three ladies whom he invited to visit him on his farm, only to have Lizelle say hello and goodbye in a matter of minutes.

Lizelle has met someone else and came all the way just to tell Francois that she has decided to withdraw from the programme, since she wants to give the relationship with the other man a chance.

Chats with only two

While it clearly came as a shock to all, Francois took the news in his stride and can now enjoy getting to know the other two ladies even better, since he’s now got one less admirer to entertain. Judging by Vanessa and Lorinda’s excitement about the man, it’s safe to say that he will certainly still have his hands full even with just two, instead of three ladies on the farm. One could only imagine that this might make the elimination process a little more difficult, though…
