3 Ways to set the table for a stay-in date

Have you also noticed how you tend to opt for a stay-in date rather than going out these days? Tight budgets and people being cautious due to COVID-19 has had its impact even on our dating habits. If you and your partner prefer a stay-in date rather than going out these days, here are three ways to set the table beautifully and romantically.

Stay-in (bed) date

Nothing says “I love you” like breakfast in bed! A romantic date doesn’t have to be after eight in the evening. It can also be a breakfast date and why get out of bed if you can have breakfast in bed? Poetry Stores has the most beautiful cups, bowls and trays to use to give your breakfast in bed a luxurious twist. Fill the cups with Terbodore coffee (my favourite), decorate the bowls and trays with freshly baked croissants from your nearest bakery and some colourful fruit and Bob’s your uncle!

Sundowner date

When it’s hard to find the time for a proper date between fetching the kids from school and preparing dinner, consider squeezing in a sundowner- or even just a late-afternoon date before the kids come home. Make it special by adding beautiful glassware and you and your partner’s favourite pre-dinner treats like one of Spier’s wines, olives and crackers with some of Lagom Living‘s green figs. Add a dash of colour with a lovely flower pot (like this one from Poetry Stores) and flowers from the garden.

The ultimate dinner date

If it’s time for a proper dinner by candlelight type of date, wait until the kids are asleep and then cover the table with one of Poetry Stores’ lovely hand-printed tablecloths and add your best dinnerware, gold-rimmed glassware (also from Poetry Stores) and knotted napkins – my favourite table decor trend discovery to date!

Whether you spend time together in bed or around the kitchen table when the kids are asleep, make sure that the table setting is special, the time is quality time and the wine is good!

XOXOXO
