The Frog Princess Returns to the Stage in Pretoria

If you’re looking for an intimate, entertaining family outing these winter school holidays, Pretoria Youth Theatre’s production, The Frog Princess, has returned to the stage after delighting audiences during a sold-out run last year.

Running from 18 June to 18 July 2026 at the quaint Irene Village Theatre, this production promises a journey filled with adventure, friendship, laughter and just the right amount of magic. Even though kids younger than eight might struggle to understand the storyline, various elements in the play, including striking outfits, make for great entertainment. It also serves as a great introduction to the arts for children keen on exploring the performing arts.

The story follows a young dreamer whose life takes an unexpected turn when she encounters a mysterious prince living under a peculiar curse. Together with a cast of quirky characters, memorable songs and plenty of humorous moments, you’ll be whisked away on a magical adventure that celebrates kindness, courage and the power of unexpected friendships.

Brought to life by the talented, hard-working performers of Pretoria Youth Theatre, the production features several Pretoria Youth Theatre alumni alongside Naledi Theatre Award nominees, ensuring a high-quality theatrical experience for audiences of all ages.
