Coinciding perfectly with the arrival of spring and international Cap Classique Day, this event promises to be truly a memorable affair.

From 1 – 7 September 2023, both locals and tourists will be treated to everything bubbly as the long anticipated Cap Classique Route festivities take center stage.

Encompassing 23 local producers, the Franschhoek Valley’s Cap Classique Route is the largest and most impressive showcase of outstanding sparkling wines, accompanied by world-class hospitality and breathtaking vineyard panoramas in South Africa.

For aficionados and experts of fine wine are invited to delve into the rich abundance of Franschhoek where week of interactive tasting sessions, exclusive cellar tours, and one-of-a-kind food and wine pairings awaits. The festivities include a range of experiences, from sabrage demonstrations and artisanal Cap Classique pairings to delightful bubbly breakfasts and unique cellar-door offers – there’s plenty to enjoy!

Numerous accommodation options are available, catering to all budgets and personal preferences. Visitors are encouraged to extend their enjoyment with a mid-week or weekend stay. This will ensure that your schedule is brimming with celebrations.

A standout highlight for all culinary enthusiasts is an afternoon of epicurean pleasures hosted at Boschendal’s Olive Press. This event is scheduled for Sunday, 3 September and it will put the spotlight on a select few top local producers. Chef Eric Bulpitt will astound diners with a five-course meal perfectly paired with specially selected Cap Classiques from Boschendal’s own collection, as well as beloved vintages from Haute Cabriere, L’Ormarins, Black Elephant Vintners and Le Lude. Of course, these sparkling wines will all be expertly matched with his delectable creations.

Each of the 23 participating estates will proudly present their distinctive offerings throughout the initial week of September, ready to raise their glasses and toast to this remarkable occasion.
