Love is in the air at Liz McGrath Collection‘s The Cellars-Hohenort! They will be offering romantic Valentine’s picnics – available from Saturday, 11 February through to Tuesday, 14 February.
Romantics, you’re invited! Find a secluded spot on the spacious Hohenort lawn where picnic blankets will be set up for a feast for two. All while enjoying the spectacular backdrop of the destination’s award-winning gardens.
Executive Chef Tronette Dippenaar has created the ultimate Valentine’s Picnic basket, brimming with a selection of delicious tapas, including feta stuffed Peppadews, spicy marinated olives, watermelon, feta and basil skewers and traditional hummus. In addition, you’ll also get delicacies like mini pulled lamb sliders, beetroot and goats cheese salad, as well as freshly baked red pepper and sundried tomato focaccia bread. Celebrate your love and end the picnic off on a sweet note, complete with triple chocolate brownies and chocolate dipped strawberries.
The Valentine’s Picnic Basket costs R565 per person, with add-on menu items and sparkling wine available at an additional charge. There are also kiddies and baby options available, ideal for a family picnic on a summer’s evening, which I love!
Couples who prefer dressing up a little, may also book for a gourmet 6-course Valentine’s Dinner paired with some of South Africa’s best Cap Classiques from Klein Constantia, Constantia Uitsig, Steenberg and L’Ormarins. These will be presented on Tuesday, 14 February in the historical Hohenort dining venue. Highlights will include pre-dinner Champagne cocktails, Salted Ocean Cob; Aged Chalmar Beef; a cheese course and Strawberry and White Chocolate Gateaux to finish off. It certainly promises to be quite the romantic affair, priced at R950 per person.
Those looking for the ultimate romantic Valentine’s Day gift can also buy a gift experience voucher (from R500) to use at The Cellars-Hohenort, or at one of the other two hotels within The Liz McGrath Collection. Vouchers may be utilised for accommodation, as well as for meals and services at the restaurants and spas.
