Design Showcase: A Celebration of African Design at RMB Latitudes Art Fair 2026

Design lovers, this is one to add to your May calendar.

Following its successful debut, the Design Showcase – presented in collaboration with Design Week South Africa and RMB Latitudes Art Fair 2026 – returns for a second edition, bringing together over 25 African brands in a curated celebration of contemporary design.

Taking place from 22 – 24 May 2026 at the enchanting Shepstone Gardens, the showcase invites visitors to explore a series of beautifully considered design spaces – each offering a unique perspective on craftsmanship, creativity and culture across the continent.

A Design Showcase Where Creativity Meets Storytelling

Set across four dedicated design spaces, the showcase offers an immersive retail experience where visitors can discover – and purchase – pieces from both emerging and established designers.

Expect everything from fashion and jewellery to furniture, homeware and fragrance, with standout collaborations including ethical jewellery atelier PICHULIK and luxury leather brand Cape Cobra Leathercraft.

A highlight this year is the interactive retail space curated by The Herd, alongside a multi-brand experience by Duck Duck Goose, showcasing a refined mix of independent fashion and lifestyle labels.

A Curated Edit of African Craft and Design

The central showcase space brings together a rich and diverse selection of African design voices. From fashion brands like Clatural and Dyad, to furniture and homeware by Stripped Collective and Something Good Studio, each piece reflects a deep connection to material, culture and craft.

Visitors can also explore jewellery by Athena A Jewellery, fragrances by Très Nagual, and thoughtfully upcycled pieces from MakeSpace by Wunders.

Nigeria in Focus

In line with the Fair’s 2026 focus on Nigeria, a curated selection of Nigerian design brands will be showcased, including footwear label Kkerele and Lagos-based concept store Alara.

This cross-continental dialogue adds depth to the showcase, highlighting the vibrancy and global relevance of Africa’s design ecosystem.

An ‘Oasis’ of Creativity

Framing this year’s showcase is the theme Oasis – a moment of pause and sensory engagement within the broader fair.

Visitors will be welcomed by Heart of Oasis, a sculptural lighting installation by David Garra, suspended within the architectural beauty of the gardens. Floral installations by Botanicus, Emely van Heesch and Loulou d. further enhance the experience – adding layers of texture, scent and visual storytelling.
