Behind The Crimson Door is the latest immersive production by celebrated South African designer Gert-Johan Coetzee\, created in collaboration with the dynamic performance company CIRK. \n \nWhat to Expect of Behind the Crimson Door\nOriginally conceptualised as Coetzee’s Spring/Summer 2027 showcase at South African Fashion Week\, this theatrical production blurs the lines between couture\, storytelling and aerial artistry. Expect a visually arresting experience where high fashion quite literally takes flight. \nAt the heart of the show is Charlotte\, a young farm girl who journeys to the big city in pursuit of her dreams. What unfolds is a powerful narrative of courage\, ambition and self-discovery\, brought to life through aerial acts\, dance and dramatic couture. As the story evolves\, so too do the garments – transitioning from understated simplicity to bold\, statement-making pieces designed to move with the performers. \n \nSet against a series of symbolic worlds – from rural beginnings to high-energy urban landscapes and theatrical club scenes – the production captures the emotional journey of stepping into the unknown and embracing possibility.
