DESCRIPTION:The Great Turnabout\, a one-night-only Winemaker’s Dinner at The Bistro at Brookdale Estate in the Paarl Winelands\, will see Chef Gary Coetzee and winemaker Xander Sadie swap their usual roles for an informal celebration of the relationship between food and wine. Taking place on 27 August 2026\, guests can expect a blend of storytelling\, laughter\, plenty of kitchen banter and a few surprises as the two share their respective passions from a rather different perspective. \nThe Portuguese-inspired menu draws on Xander’s time working in the cellar at Luis Seabra Vinhos in the Douro\, bringing the flavours and traditions of Portugal to the Paarl Winelands. Each course will be paired with Brookdale Estate wines\, including a selection of Mediterranean-inspired blends. \nThe evening begins with Tabua de Pães\, featuring toasted baguette with sardines\, Bacalhau fritters and marinated roasted red pepper\, paired with Brookdale Sixteen Field Blend 2025. This is followed by Caldo Verde\, a traditional potato and kale soup with grilled chorizo\, served alongside Brookdale Old Vine Chenin Blanc 2024. \nFor the main courses\, roasted line fish (Asado ao Forno de Peixe) is paired with Brookdale Bradbourne Estate Blend 2025\, followed by Arroz de Pato – shredded duck and rice with duck breast smoked over French oak – matched with Brookdale Grenache Noir 2025. \nThe savoury finale is Beef a Portuguesa\, featuring fillet of beef and Brookdale Twenty Field Blend 2025. Dessert takes a decadent turn with Abade de Priscos\, a rich Portuguese-style caramel flan. \nMore than a traditional wine dinner\, The Great Turnabout is designed as an intimate and entertaining evening where the people behind the food and wine take centre stage. With limited seating\, early reservations are recommended. \nFor those wanting to turn the evening into a Paarl Winelands getaway\, accommodation is available at the Manor House at R3 525 per person sharing\, including breakfast. \nThe Great Turnabout Winemaker’s Dinner Details\n📅 Thursday\, 27 August 2026\n📍 The Bistro at Brookdale Estate\, Paarl Winelands\n💰 R1 150 per person\, including wine pairing\n🏡 Manor House accommodation: R3 525 per person sharing\, including breakfast\n🍷 Reservations: Dineplan\n🌿 Brookdale Estate \nFOR MORE EXCITING EVENTS AND HAPPENINGS\, CLICK HERE

SUMMARY:Workshop Wednesday: Angela Yeung On What It Takes To Summit Everest
DESCRIPTION:What does it really take to summit the world’s highest mountain? On 24 June 2026\, adventurer\, entrepreneur and philanthropist Angela Yeung will share the answer during an inspiring edition of Workshop Wednesday at Workshop17 The Bank. \nWhile many know Mount Everest as the ultimate test of endurance\, Angela’s journey was about far more than reaching the summit. Over the course of a gruelling 50-day expedition via Everest’s technically challenging North Side route\, she transformed every metre climbed into an act of giving through the Impilo Collection Foundation‘s #EmpowerHer campaign. \nAt an altitude of 8\,849m\, where oxygen levels are critically low and temperatures can become life-threatening\, Angela made a remarkable promise: for every metre she climbed\, one bra would be donated to a woman or girl affected by gender-based violence or vulnerable living conditions in South Africa. \nNot only did she reach the summit\, but she also fulfilled that promise. \nOne year later\, all 8\,849 bras pledged through the campaign have been distributed across all nine provinces\, reaching women through shelters\, support organisations and community initiatives. During the 2025 16 Days of Activism campaign\, the impact of the project was brought to life through a powerful installation of 8\,849 bras displayed at Constitution Hill’s historic Women’s Jail. \nFOR MORE EXCITING EVENTS AND HAPPENINGS\, CLICK HERE \nMore Than a Mountaineering Story\nGuests attending this special Workshop Wednesday can expect far more than a talk about climbing Everest. \nDrawing on her experiences as an entrepreneur\, adventurer and founder of the Impilo Collection Foundation\, Angela will share an honest and deeply personal account of what happens when people push beyond their perceived limits. Her story explores resilience\, courage\, purpose\, leadership and the importance of using personal success to create meaningful impact for others. \nThrough reflections on her childhood\, her business journey and her philanthropic work\, Angela offers a fresh perspective on ambition – one rooted not only in achievement\, but also in self-awareness\, discipline and service. \nAngela Yeung on Supporting Meaningful Change\nWorkshop Wednesday is known for bringing thought-provoking speakers and inspiring conversations to its audience\, and this event promises to be no exception. \nAdding further significance to the evening\, every rand generated from ticket sales will be donated directly to the Impilo Collection Foundation\, a non-profit organisation focused on education\, mentorship and community upliftment through its #EmpowerHer\, #EmpowerHim and #EmpowerThem initiatives. \nFor those interested in adventure\, leadership\, personal growth\, philanthropy or simply hearing an extraordinary South African story\, this promises to be an evening of inspiration and insight. \nEvent Details\nWorkshop Wednesday: Angela Yeung – Conquering Everest for Good \nDate: 24 June 2026 \nTime: 17:00 – 19:00 \nVenue: Workshop17 The Bank\, Johannesburg \nTickets: From R50 for Workshop17 members and R100 for non-members \nTickets are available via Quicket. \nWhether you’re fascinated by adventure travel\, inspired by stories of human resilience\, or passionate about making a positive difference\, Angela Yeung’s Everest journey is one that demonstrates how extraordinary goals can create extraordinary impact.

SUMMARY:RMB Latitudes Art Fair 2026 Returns as an Oasis of Contemporary African Creativity
DESCRIPTION:Set against the lush\, historic backdrop of Shepstone Gardens\, the RMB Latitudes Art Fair 2026 will return from 22–24 May 2026 for its highly anticipated fourth edition. Celebrated as one of the continent’s leading platforms for contemporary African art and its diaspora\, the fair continues to redefine how audiences experience art – through connection\, sustainability and meaningful cultural exchange. \nBringing together a dynamic mix of artists\, galleries and cultural partners\, the fair offers far more than just a traditional exhibition. It creates an immersive\, thoughtfully curated environment where visitors can engage deeply with both the artworks and the stories behind them. \n“At RMB Latitudes\, we are committed to expanding equitable access to markets and creating meaningful opportunities for artists to connect with new audiences\,” says Lucy MacGarry\, Co-founder and Director of Latitudes. “Our priority is\, and always has been\, to put artists first – centring their voices\, supporting their long-term visibility\, and building pathways for sustainable practice. RMB Latitudes reimagines how the art ecosystem can work more inclusively\, for artists and for the wider cultural community.” \nThe fair’s setting plays a central role in its appeal. Nestled within terraced gardens and heritage architecture\, Shepstone Gardens offers a unique alternative to conventional art fair formats. Indoor and outdoor exhibition spaces blend seamlessly\, creating an experience that is both intimate and world-class – balancing curated storytelling with museum-grade presentation. \nA Spotlight on Nigeria’s Creative Energy\nContinuing its commitment to cross-continental collaboration\, the 2026 edition introduces a special focus on Nigeria – one of Africa’s most vibrant and influential creative hubs. \n“RMB is committed to helping to build a sustainable art economy across Africa and strengthening cultural development\,” says RMB’s Alison Badenhorst. “With a strong presence on the continent\, we can bridge markets\, drive engagement and support artists\, curators\, collectors and audiences to reach new local and global opportunities. Through RMB Latitudes\, we aim to unlock talent and enable creativity to thrive.” \nRather than offering once-off showcases\, the fair’s Focus programme emphasises long-term engagement. Previous collaborations\, such as the 2025 Botswana initiative\, resulted in sold-out exhibitions and meaningful new relationships between artists and collectors – highlighting the fair’s commitment to sustainable growth within Africa’s art ecosystem. \n“Through the Focus programme\, we build genuine relationships on the ground\,” says Latitudes’ Boitumelo Makousu. “By working within each country first – meeting artists\, curators and galleries in their own contexts – we create presentations that feel collaborative and sustained rather than extractive. Nigeria has a powerful creative community\, and we’re excited to deepen those exchanges and bring that energy into the Fair.” \nThe RMB Latitudes Art Fair’s Theme for 2026: Oasis\nThis year’s theme\, Oasis\, draws inspiration from Johannesburg itself – a city that has flourished despite its unconventional origins. Marking 140 years of Johannesburg\, the theme reflects on creativity as a life-giving force that thrives in unexpected places. \n“The Fair embraces Johannesburg’s spirit of resilience and renewal\, affirming the arts’ capacity to nourish\, connect and reimagine the cultural landscape\,” says Denzo Nyathi\, Curator and Head of Sales. “It also draws inspiration from the gardens that host the Fair each year – a carefully tended pocket of green within an urban context.” \nVisitors can expect an inspiring blend of art\, culture and atmosphere – where creativity unfolds within a tranquil\, garden-like setting in the heart of the city. \nPlan Your Visit to the RMB Latitudes Art Fair\nArt lovers\, collectors and the creatively curious are invited to experience this unique celebration of African art and culture. SUMMARY:The Wine Harvest Commemorative Event
DESCRIPTION:The Wine Harvest Commemorative Event Signals the Start of South Africa’s 2026 Harvest Season\nOne of the most significant dates on South Africa’s wine calendar returns on Thursday\, 5 February 2026\, as the Wine Harvest Commemorative Event invites wine lovers and industry insiders alike to gather at Groot Constantia\, the country’s oldest wine-producing farm. \nSet against the historic estate’s rolling vineyards and iconic Cape Dutch architecture\, the evening commemorates a defining moment in South African wine history: 367 years since the first recorded wine was made from Cape grapes on 2 February 1659. More than a celebration\, this annual event officially marks the start of the national wine harvest season. \nRenowned as the ceremonial kick-off to harvest\, the Wine Harvest Commemorative Event honours the journey of South African wine – from vineyard rows to wine glasses across the globe. Each year\, the gathering pays tribute to the people\, passion and progress that continue to shape and elevate the local wine industry. \n \nWhat Can Guests Expect At This Year’s Wine Harvest Commemorative Event?\nGuests can expect an elegant black-tie affair\, unfolding across Groot Constantia’s manicured lawns under starlit skies. Think beautifully styled tables\, ambient lighting\, exceptional South African wines\, live entertainment and the emotional highlight of the evening: the traditional blessing of the new harvest. It is a rare opportunity to connect with winemakers\, cellar teams\, sommeliers and industry peers\, all united in celebration of a new season. \nAt the heart of the event is a moment that captures the spirit of South African wine\, as outstanding contributors to the industry are recognised for their achievements. Each year\, individuals and organisations are honoured across five prestigious categories\, representing the core pillars of the industry: the 1659 Award for Visionary Leadership\, Growing Inclusivity\, Wine Advancement\, Viti- and Viniculture\, and recognition of the Wine Agri-Worker. \nUnable to attend in person? Wine lovers are encouraged to join the celebration at home by hosting their own harvest gathering. Pour your favourite South African wines\, share a meal with friends and family\, and raise a glass to the remarkable story of local wine. \n“Each harvest is a reminder of how far we’ve come as an industry\,” says Jean Naudé\, CEO of Groot Constantia. This event is a moment to come together\, reflect on the shared journey\, and celebrate the passion and collaboration that continue to move South African wine forward. \n \nCelebrating The Harvest With Trusted Partners\nThe Wine Harvest Commemorative Event is made possible through the generous support of Groot Constantia and platinum partner Standard Bank\, alongside sponsor partners Air France-KLM\, the Western Cape Department of Agriculture\, South Africa Wine\, Die Burger\, Seabourne Logistics\, SmileFM and Vinpro. \n“Wine is ultimately a story of people\, place and patience. Our relationship with the South African wine industry is built on the same principles\, long-term partnership and shared ambition. At Standard Bank\, we stand alongside farmers and winemakers\, helping them finance the next season\, invest in the next innovation and build businesses that outlast any single harvest\,” says Karel-Günther Jordaan\, Standard Bank Regional Agribusiness Manager. \nFor more information\, visit www.sawineharvest.co.za and follow @sawineharvest on Instagram\, Facebook\, X and YouTube.
