I am a classic gal. In addition to that, I mostly choose wardrobe items that I know will work with at least three or four other items in my cupboard and I often lean toward neutral tones to ensure that I can fit more clothes together. But, every now and then I get an itch. Whether it’s through a media drop or some inspiration from Pinterest, I sometimes feel like experimenting with style, texture, trends and well, aesthetics.
One of the recent media drops I received was a pair of Crocs. To be honest, the brand has never been my go-to when it comes to my classic style, so I was a bit nervous about how to style them. (Apart from being a classic gal, I am also someone who believes in ‘you use what you have’. And, I now had Crocs, so I had to find a way to use them.) I gave it a go and truly enjoyed playing around with Crocs’ platforms. Their Height Collection was launched at Momo Kuro in Rosebank, Joburg a while back and ultimately, the collection was designed to inspire unique style and flair. Of course, while maintaining Crocs’ renowned comfort. The collection features various platform designs with a range of colours.
Taking on the challenge of styling my new Crocs platforms to fit my style, while also submitting to the brand’s aim of letting the me stand out and express my individuality, was such a fun fashion challenge. That all while still being Crocs-style comfortable!
So, here are three ways in which I styled them:

Sandals and a dress
I mean, who doesn’t like a cute little dress with sandals? For a trendy, Gen Z twist, swap the flat sandals for Crocs’ Stomp Fisherman Sandal (R1299.95). I like how these platforms make your legs look so much longer, which is why I opted for the shorter dress. Pair it with a leather jacket and some golden hoop earrings to keep things casual, yet chic.
Keep it casual in a linen suit
I absolutely adore this versatile waistcoat from Milk & Honey and love styling it both for casual and more formal looks. Here, I chose to go with linen pants in the same colour, which elongates my figure, with pops of black. The hat with its black rim detail helped to keep the look casual and brought a balance to the look, complementing the black-coloured Crocs platforms brilliantly. For good measure, I added sunglasses with black lenses and a golden rim to elevate and complete the look.
Maximising on the Midi Skirt
Another classic that I had in my cupboard and one that I wear very often, is this black maxi skirt. Wearing it with the black shoes has a leg-lengthening effect and creates a seamless line. I combined it with a crop top to keep the look young and fresh, and a loaned denim jacket from my friend and photographer, to complete the look.
