I am the first one to admit that I am much more of a coffee drinker than a tea drinker. That is until I came across Carmién Tea. As you drive the Piekenierskloof Pass, Carmién Tea is the gateway to the popular Cederberg region – a popular holiday and hiking destination, especially in times where travellers are looking for secluded spots to spend quality time with loved ones. It also forms part of the Rooibos Route.
Leon van Nierop placed it under his top 10 international movies for 2020 and says that it is one of the rarest movies you’ll ever watch. Actor Pietie Beyers says it’s real and honest; a South African film you won’t see every day. I recently had the privilege of chatting to Pietie Beyers about the movie, Wesens over a cup of coffee in the middle of Melville.
Toward the end of 2020, I had the Land Rover Defender for a day. I took it everywhere (or it took me) – from the city streets to the outskirts of Pretoria. This included a visit at Harmonie Proteas – a wedding venue, but also a working farm – where I got to chat to the owners, stroll among proteas and drive a magnificent car. Here is the video.
